The incidence of fatalities from prescription painkiller overdose has reached such an alarming level that the CDC has called on federal and state governments to take action, and prevent the numbers from escalating. As the CDC report says, there are about 46 fatal cases of overdose from painkillers in the U.S. every day. It further states that twice as many pain killers are prescribed in the U.S. as in Canada.
In view of this, the non-profit Foundation for Chiropractic Congress (F4CP) is calling attention to non-invasive treatment options for pain, including chiropractic. As reported on Heraldonline.com, the foundation says:
Chiropractic care is an evidence-based, drug-free approach for common health concerns and pain relief. Evidence confirms that the care provided by a doctor of chiropractic is often linked with better clinical outcomes, greater patient satisfaction and noteworthy cost savings.
The foundation cites a report by another non-profit, the PAINS Project, which highlights how complementary and alternative medicine, including chiropractic, acupuncture, and meditation, has been recognized by Congress under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
Pain Relief
In contrast to painkilling medications, chiropractic does not just offer pain relief, but also pain prevention. While the effects of chiropractic may not be as sudden or as dramatic as prescribed drugs, they are, by far, longer lasting and more holistic.
A highly-skilled Murrieta / Temecula chiropractor in a facility like Murrieta Chiropractic is knowledgeable in various techniques that can address pain in different parts of the body, making for a whole body treatment. Chiropractic addresses pain at the source—which is often the spine, improving its flexibility and endurance to allow for more easy movements.
Sense of Balance
Chiropractic also improves a person’s sense of balance as well as muscle strength, which is especially important for both professional and amateur athletes. It works by removing as much interference on the nervous system as possible, by helping make the spine more stable. The spine is full of nerve tissues, and when it is overly stressed, the nerve tissues cannot communicate effectively with the brain, making balancing a problem.
More invasive treatments, such as surgery, carry risks that could be fatal in some cases. A chiropractor in Temecula or Murrieta offers an alternative solution that is much less risky and much more affordable than surgery.
Those who are dealing with pain or decreased flexibility and balance in their movements will do well to consult with a certified chiropractor, and learn about a more holistic way to a painless lifestyle.
